Kunpen Lama Gangchen Institute

Kunpen Lama Gangchen is a member of the all'UBI Italian Buddhist Union

The Kunpen Lama Gangchen was founded in 1989 as an Institute for the diffusion and study of traditional Tibetan medicine and Buddhist philosophy. Thereafter, it grew to include the meditative practices of Tantric NgalSo Self-Healing and Peace Education. The NgalSo lineage transmitted by Lama Gangchen has been passed down directly from traditional teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni.

The centre has always hosted great Lamas that have granted special initiations and blessings. These include Ghesce Yesce Tobten, Ghelek Rinpoche, Ribur Rinpoche, Gheshe Yeshe Wangchuk, Ghesce Tendar, Ghesce Nawang Sherab, Ghesce Lobsang Tenzin, Professor Domepa Yonten Ghiatso, Pancen Otrul Rimpoche, and recently the institute has had the honour of hosting the young reincarnated S.S. Kyabje Trijan Rinpoche and S.S. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche.

Their energy is still present thanks to the faith and experiences of the many people who have been blessed by their teachings and who continue to practice them to this day.

Many important projects dedicated to peace were begun from this centre: the Lama Gangchen World Peace Foundation, the Spiritual Forum, the Albagnano Healing Meditation Centre the centre dedicated to spiritual retreats on the Lake Maggiore, the organization Help in Action for long-distance adoptions ; the publishing house Peace Publication and the musical group United Peace Voices.

In the month of May 2003, during the acknowledgment by the United Nations of the festival ‘Wesak’ (the birth, Enlightenment and paranirvana of the Buddha), the Kunpen Lama Gangchen had the honour of hosting, for the first time in Italy, the Sacred Relics of the Buddha. Since then, the Kunpen Lama Gangchen commemorates this special event annually.

Thanks to the Ceccarelli family’s over 15 years of constant devotion, the centre has continued to grow. Over the years, many people have been fundamental for the development of the Kunpen Lama Gangchen. In particular, we would like to thank Tsetan Gyurme, Patrizia Tursini, Sergio Salerni, Luisella Borgonovo e Riccardo Legnani, respectively the current President and Vice-president.
