According to the Tibetan Buddhist tantric
tradition, there is a special method to dispel interferences
and to free all living beings of any form from fear and danger.
This method allows us to embody the pure crystal energy of
the female divinity called Tara, known also as the Saviouress
and the Swift Heroine. The special energy of Tara, who is
the consort of Amogasiddhi, the Supreme Healer of fear, is
the key to overcoming all internal, external and secret fears.
Tara actually existed. Known as the Princess of the Moon and
Wisdom (Yeshe Dawa, in Tibetan), she, like any living being,
experienced these internal, external and secret fears. Being
interested in spiritual growth, the Princess of the Moon and
Wisdom regularly practiced meditation. The monks told her
that she would have to wait to be reincarnated as a man to
become fully awakened. Frustrated and outraged, in front of
the Buddha Tara uttered, ”At the absolute level, there
are neither men nor women but here in this relative world,
men and women have the same ability of attaining enlightenment
and to prove it, in this lifetime as a woman, I will reach
Buddhahood.” Tara used her feminine power to attain
enlightenment and thus gave a spiritual example to all women.
In order to attain a completely awakened state, we need to
develop both our masculine and feminine energies as integral
parts of our being, regardless of our sex. When Tara attained
enlightenment, the fear that represented her weakest point,
transformed itself into strength and she became the consort
of the Supreme Healer Amogasiddhi, who is specialised in the
healing of fear. Once we have been rid of our fears, there
are no longer hurdles to prevent us from obtaining our desires
or completing our actions successfully. Amogasiddi means infallible
action and Tara is also called the Swift Heroine because she
rapidly resolves our problems and grants us our wishes.
